For the third letter we are going to do something different. Pastor Steven Furtick preached a sermon called "No Weapon". I have listened to this message many times and every time the Holy Spirit ministers to me.
1 Samuel 13 concludes with Israel being surrounded by the Philistines who were divided into three companies. There was no blacksmith in all of Israel, therefore they could not make their own weapons or tools, or even sharpen their farming equipment. The Israelites had to go to the Philistines for these things. This was by design of the Philistines to keep the Israelites from being able to fight them.
This reminds me a lot of the government, especially when it comes to elections. The primaries are less of an election and more so a selection process decided months and even years in advance. This primary has been odd as a few county GOPs have decided not to fake fair, as is the norm.
Israel was surrounded by three detachments, so are you. The executive, the legislative, and judicial. These are the three branches of government- all of which have been weaponized against you. All of which you are forced to depend on while they do not have your interests in mind but their own agenda.
So what do we do? What did they do?
Chapter 14, Kings Saul and his son Jonathon were the only two in all of Israel with a weapon. The king hid under a tree. Jonathon told his armor bearer, God can save by many or by few. He said we will show ourselves and if they say come up that will be a sign God has delivered them into our hand. The Philistines do, invite them up and Jonathon and his armor bearer kill 20 men.
We should be like Jonathon and trust God, walking by faith and not by sight. He made a great declaration of faith, God can save by many or by few. Even when our enemies surround us, our God surrounds them.
2 Kings 6 Elisha is woken by his frightened servant who woke up to an army surrounding them. Elisha didn't pray for God to send help, He asked God to open the eyes of his servant so he could see there was more with them than against them. When God opens his eyes he saw an angel army with chariots of fire around his enemy.
Hebrews 12:28-29 Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire!
Says the Lord.
Fast forward to 1 Samuel 17, David is facing another Philistine, Goliath. David tried on Saul's armor but took it off. David grabbed his shepherd's staff and went to the river where he collected five smooth stones. David like Jonathon made a great declaration of faith, I come against you in the name of my God. After David slung a stone and stunned the giant, who fell forward at David's feet. David having no weapon, took Goliath's sword and cut off his head.
What the enemy has in mind for you, God has in mind for your enemy.
The same sword Goliath was going to use to take David's head took Goliath's. The same sword King Saul tried to take David's life with, is the sword Saul took his own life with.
The Bible says God will not be mocked, what one sows will be reaped. Same with those in government. God sees and hears their schemes. There is due season, a time when they will receive what is due to them for the wickedness they persisted in.
God is putting forth people after His heart up and down the ballot- but He won't make you vote for them. Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you discern.
Isaiah 30:20-21
20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
